luck of the irish

Sunday, March 20

Last week on Tuesday, my youngest son, Henry, went into the dentist to have his two top front teeth extracted.  A few weeks prior, we discovered a small pimple-like object above his tooth.  Luckily, a friend of mine knew that this meant an abscess.    Unlucky though for Henry- he isn't yet speaking and the front teeth removal will hinder his ability to make certain sounds.   However, he's probably been in pain this whole time without us fully realizing it.  I really started to think about Secretariat and his first major race.  He lost because of an abscessed tooth.  Silly, I know, but...  Of course this dentist's office was decked out in shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day.  The first picture is a glittery shamrock tree, Henry in the evening after the extraction and his two front teeth.
